of.the 13th month.&.me.

I'm late in updating Myra's milestones, again.

Well, they say it's better late than never, yes?

At 13mth

o1. Still a toddler with 6 gigi. No new gigi peaking out so far. Already introduced her to a proper toothbrush and she's been handling em like a pro(by baby's standard lah).

o2. She can actually walk quite a distant these days, as she could already walk from the living hall to the kitchen in a jiffy - tho she sometimes resorted to crawling when she's in her hurry mode.

o3. She's still our little drama queen, more often now than ever - as she won't let me out of her sight once I'm home from work and the same goes during the weekend. Weekend is absolutely her favourite time to stick to me like a baby koala. When mummy's around, others just won't do, tak laku okeh? Daddy je laku sikit-sikit.

o4. It's sad to admit that during her 13th month, she has been introduced to FM as my EBM stock is currently non-existent. My production plummet right after our Kuching trip and yet to recover ever since, now I'm giving her as much as I could whilst resorting to FM to cover up for the lack of it - especially when I'm at work. I'm terribly frustrated bout this but I think it won't make me any less of a mother for her kan? So let's not be too stressed out lah.

o5. She could understand and follow simple instructions these days. If ya give her some finger food - pieces of apple/pear and the sort and ask her to sit, she'll go to the living hall and climb into her portable rocker seat to munch on the treats. You could also ask her to fetch you certain stuff - especially the tv remote controller. he he. Cakap jer "Myra, mummy nakkk.." whilst pointing to the object. More often than not, she'll bring it over - unless she's busy doing something else. he he.

o6. I wrote bout how you could count on her to massage ya hand and whatnot last month, these days, she'd still do the massaging for you, say, suruh urut kaki - but only for a while lah, pastu she'll grab your hand and place it on your leg as if a way of saying "mummy urut lah kaki sendiri" T_T bertuah punya anak.

o7. She gets more excited bout walking after we got her 1st Nike sandal, I think it's probably because it's the most comfortable and practical footwear among the previous ones I've bought for her - others are more of the dressy type yang maybe tak comfortable. Kalau nampak je that we're going out, she'll grab the sandals, and she'll voluntarily gives her kaki to us so we could put on the sandals. She loves to jalan-jalan. Perangai macam mummy - bak kata daddy :P

o8. She's now known as our little curly. Uih, sungguh lah curly rambutnya. I should have take a photo of her with her paksu when we were back in Kedah last weekend, then people gonna stop asking me bout the hair-inheritance. Yea, she didn't get her hair from her parents, she got it from her paksu. he he.

That's about it lah. The end.

of.the anniversary weekend getaway.&.me.

Getting back to work after a long weekend is utter kemalasan. If I could afford another day of cuti then I would just stay at home and do nothing.

Well, our trip back home up North was a quick one, we reached my parents place at 2am on Saturday and headed back down south by Sunday noon - so much so that we didn't really get to do much but stayed at my parents place, filled our guts to the brim(yummy durian & mum's udang masak serai!), got myself a haircut and that's about it.

By Sunday, we reached Ipoh (for our super-quick anniversary weekend getaway) sometimes after 6pm. Yea, we had 2D1N stay at the Lost World of Tambun. We checked ourselves in at the hotel before 7pm, got a decent room facing the hill and the water park on the 1st floor. I have no complaint bout the room since it's clean and decent tho it's nothing grand and the tv channels were blehhh (but we're not there to watch tv, so yea, no biggie). We even got a proper babycot for Myra without any surcharge when we requested for it.

Right after Maghrib we walked to the Hot Spring & Spa for a good dip(RM15/entry). This, I hafta admit, is the selling point of this place for me, yea, the night hot spring, not the water theme park. There are several pools with various depth and water temperature and since we were there on Sunday night, the crowd was sorta on the low side which was awesome, jadi tidak lah crowded sangat macam tempat badak berendam.

Since we went there with a baby, we decided to stick to one of the large pool with steps alongside of it where the temperature was just right (probably around 45 degCel), so we just sat there for a good dip together with the little one.

All in all, we loved it, Myra did too - tho she's a wee bit afraid at 1st. Like yea, tempat apekah ini, open-air hot bath malam-malam, with flashy lights, music and whatnot.

Owh yea, the only thing I detest about the hot spring is the loud music. Well, I thought that it's a place for you to unwind and relax  - not to have a wild party or something coz the choices of songs are absolutely those which your parents usually do not approve.

So yea,we spent approximately one hour at the hot spring, and before heading back to our room, we had a quick jalan-jalan to test out the other pools. We had a good walk in the foot-spa pool and C*** even had a dip at one of the hottest pool and he came out almost half-cooked. :P Okay, maybe not.

All of us had a good sleep that night, thanks to the hot bath.(I'd love to drag C*** to go there again later, we probably could go for the spa next time).

The next day (which was yesterday), came one of the biggest surprise of my life, ever. I mean, I've stayed at various hotels(from the awesome Four Seasons to the ordinary Hotel Seri Malaysia ) in the span of my 27-years life and I hafta say that one of the thing that I look forward to is the breakfast buffet(I like to dine like a king during breakfast) as good hotel usually comes with an equally good breakfast spread.

So yea, honestly, I didn't expect much since the Sunway Lost World of Tambun hotel is not a great hotel to begin with (it was a practical hotel, nothing-grand type) but I did not expect the breakfast to be super ridiculous. Like yea, no breakfast buffet which was sorta fine at 1st(tho shocking) - tapi once you're served with the chosen food. It's super kesedihan. I mean, the hotel basically gave you breakfast coupon that you hafta redeem at the in-house kopitiam(Pappa Rich), there were probably 6 choices to choose from from the breakfast menu, the typical kopitiam food, nasi lemak, toast and the sort. The food absolutely looked better in the menu compared to the reality.

C*** requested for the nasi lemak whilst I opted for the porridge. The nasi lemak turned out to be the plain nasi lemak (cucumber, anchovies, hard-boiled egg & sambal), which gonna cost you more than RM7 if ya decide to buy it ala-carte and the porridge was terrible - so called chicken porridge with half boiled egg dumped in the middle of the bowl.

Those meal comes with unlimited supply of tea, coffee and juice. Juice ey? Like what juice lah? I reckon it's a watered-down cordial drink. It was terrible that C*** couldn't even tell what sort of juice it is. We even overheard a kid asking his mom "Maa..macam ni juice ke??". If I'm the manager in charge,I'll be so embarrassed that  I'll go and dunk my head in a sink upon hearing such comment from a kid.

Yea, I'm not exaggerating. That's how bad the breakfast is, you'll be happier with teh tarik mamak and nasi lemak ayam berempah from macik tepi jalan. I kid you not.

So yea, since we decided to have a go at the water park, we just headed back to our room after the crappy breakfast, so that Myra could have a quick nap and whatnot. The water park opened at 11am during weekdays(RM45/entry,kids with height under 90cm FOC!), so we got there few minutes after the opening and spent approximately an hour there wading in the kids pool before walking back to our room.

After a quick rinse, nap (for Myra), we checked ourselves out of the hotel( bye bye hotel! We won't stay here again), we headed straight to the city for a dose of Nasi Ganja(my dad's favourite!). Truthfully, I had no idea where it is tho I've been there countless of time with moi dad, but thank God for GPS and C***'s great sense of direction, we got there within 10 minutes. he he.

We drove ourselves back to KL right after the hearty lunch, stopping by at C***'s workplace for a bit and went to pick up MIL at C***'s uncle's place before reaching our place at 7pm.

Yea, how I like my weekend getaway? Very much, except for the crappy hotel breakfast that is. he he.

Owh yea, we turned 2 yesterday. Alhamdulillah. I am truly is grateful for the blessed life together (& rather obviously, our super wonderful baby).

All I want in a marriage is to have tonnes of kids. Okay, kidding. :P

All I need in a marriage is someone(which is C***, obviously), that 20,30,40,50,60,70 years down the road, will keep on striving to find ways to keep me deliriously happy (and I'm not someone hard to please) and likewise. Am I a good catch or what? :P

So yea, happy two year of making-me-happy darling! Nak hadiah plis and yeah, jalan-jalan lagi plis. Make it somewhere further this time. Okay?

Off track sekejap, yesterday whilst we were on the car listening to the radio, came the news bout Johnny Depp splitting with his partner, the reason being "he was bored senseless with her and being with her was making him miserable". Like yea, bored eh? After 14 years of relationship(not marriage) and two kids.

Who would have thought that ditching someone out of your life could be that easy? Haih la, whatever makes ya happy.

of.the weekend bits.&.me.

I think that I'm sorta stuck in one of my so-called-hiatus modes, all thanks to the fact that I've been very much occupied both at home and work.

I have like tonnes of stuff to write but somehow most of em managed to escape my mind.

Anyway, last Saturday we went to SOGO after a quick trip to the seamstress. Everything was on sale, like usual. I couldn't find anything interesting for myself but couldn't resist from grabbing cute colorful little tops and jeans for the little one. She even got her 1st Nike sandals that day. It's cute, practical and in pink! Myra was too excited about it that she wore it right away and started walking like nobody's business. After a quick lunch at Nandos(the roasted chicken was like super scrawny, previously the serving was sorta decent, sekarang adelah pathetic), terus lah balik as the crowd was starting to get a wee bit unbearable and the little one needed her nap.

Later that night, we went out to hunt for Myra's swimming suit and we eventually found a cute, decent one which got the approval nods from the daddy. he he. There would be like tonnes of water-related stuff during our anniversary weekend getaway, so yea, we hafta equip the little one with proper attires and whatnot too. Now I just need to get her a baby float and a swimming diaper, we wouldn't want her to accidentally pollute the water with her 'waste' now, wouldn't we? :P

So yea, on Sunday, we went to KLCC after attending C***'s friend's wedding (I think the wedding's lovely, especially the dais) as C*** wanted to send his ride to Cars for the ritual cleaning n waxing whilst yours truly on the other hand, in need of some retail therapy and good food. So yea, we had fun walking around (whilst stuffing ourselves with bubble tea, gelatos and whatnot), yes, all of us did a lot of walking that day, the little one included. She seems to be more excited of walking since we got her the new sandal, probably because it's owh-so-soft and lightweight.

We even dropped by at the Petronas Gallery for the current exhibition which I managed to enjoy for a bit since the walking-frenzy little one was busy exploring the exhibition halls with the daddy.

We later made a quick stop at the Toy r Us in search of something educational-but-fun toy for Myra(I think she has just too much baju and not enough toys, I used to have a room full of toys when I were little ), and came out of the store with the shape sorter toy, ya know the one that come with cubes and multiple shapes that you hafta match to their corresponding holes. I bet most of us used to have one when we were little, I know I do. :)

Yea, we're yet to give her any kitchen set, dolls and whatnot. The parents adelah suka the educational stuff, or the way that C*** put it, "a toy to enhance her intellectual and motor skills", yea, tu bapak engineer yang cakap, mummy programmer pulak, ajaq anak tengok educational and entertaining video kat tablet kira ok lah.(Yea, she truly knows how to pick her videos these days and when she's finally bored of em, she'll stand on the tablet instead.Bertuah punya budak) :P

That's about it lah, I've been wanting to write a review bout her birthday gift,

tapi adelah malas, plus she's yet to fully experience the educational bits of it - as she seems to be more interested in chewing the alphabet blocks whilst turning the train upside down so she could play with the wheels. T_T

So yea, I can't wait for our trip up North tomorrow (balik kampung!) and our quick anniversary getaway on Sunday.

Tata!

of.the 1st flight.&.me.

We're back from our long weekend Kuching trip.

It was sorta fun tho we didn't really get to do much of the usual touristy sight-seeing stuff since we got a wedding to attend.

So yea, I'm still terribly tired from the lack of comfortable sleep and whatnot, but let's not succumb to the ultimate malas-ness, yes? Let's do some recap before everything manage to escape my mind. (This gonna be one lengthy post, I've warn ya!)

On Friday, I woke up at 5am to do the last minute packing - Myra's food, milk etc. Yea, we brought along a small cooler box to store Myra's 3 days worth of food which I made the night before - I'm glad that it's just a domestic flight, so there was no issue whatsoever to bring the cooler box into the cabin as hand luggage.

By 7.40am, we drove ourselves to KLIA to catch our 10am flight - the others were already on their way as they took an earlier flight - their Air Asia flight pukul 7am, oh mak tak sanggup. he he. I'm never keen of early flight before, now that we're with a baby, lagi lah tak rela. Cheap tickets or not. This is one of the time not to be a cheapskate. When ya traveling with a baby, this kinda stuff matters. A happy baby makes a happy trip.

Reached the airport, parked our car (this is another reason to fly with MAS, KLIA's indoor parking adelah lebih reliable compared to LCCT's open-air car park, C*** mana lah nak biaq keta dia sun-bathing lama-lama), checked-in, dropped off our luggage and had a quick breakfast at the KFC, we had the KFC breakfast thingy whilst Myra had her homemade chicken porridge - the breakfast was sorta necessary for the mummy tho our inflight breakfasts were served within the 1st 20 minutes after takeoff. Why, you ask? We'll get to that later.

So yea, talks about flight. I was sorta worried that Myra gonna be all restless and whatnot during the +- 90 minutes flight, but the little one's awesome. She's off to la la land for the 1st 60 minutes - whilst the Mummy hafta learn how to eat with one hand whilst cradling a sleeping toddler in the other which she managed to do,tho quite miserably (and thanks to the fact that she's full from the KFC breakfast, she wasn't as cranky as expected from not being able to eat properly). Myra also remained calm during the rest of the flight - thanks to the tablet as she got to entertain herself with Elmo's and Upin n Ipin videos :P. I'm one happy mummy.

Daddy on the other hand was rather estranged from my worry-dom since he was seated miles away from us - due to some seating arrangement issues, which is a different story altogether.

On a lighter note, I sorta hate my seat-neighbor. Ya see, I was seated in the front row and mine happened to be sandwiched between an Ah Soh and 30-something lady which got the window-seat. If it's not handful enough to have a toddler sitting on your lap, try having a seat-neighbor who couldn't seem to stop gawking at you after you asked her whether she minds to switch seats since I need to bf the little one and I need some, ehem, privacy. I mean, she had this annoying look plastered on her face and she just stared at me as if I just asked her whether I could go out on a date with her husband or something. Sungguh bleh. I felt like slapping her silly.

It's just fortunate that Myra fell asleep right after the flight took off and remained calm afterward since she's still full from her breakfast, so there was no urgency to bf. Else, I dunno how lah.

Moving on, we reached Kuching a quarter before 12pm and were picked up by the groom himself. We had a quick refreshment, bathed Myra (ya, budak kecik belum mandi, we just changed her diaper and clothes) and headed to the bride's place for the solemnization. Everything went well tho the groom was a wee bit nervous and we had our 1st taste of Kuching's kenduri food. It's nothing like ours in the Peninsula but not something that you cannot digest either. Myra as usual had her chicken porridge and slices of honeydew for dessert.

We later spent the rest of the day doing nothing but sleep. ha ha. :P

The next day, we were already at the hotel for the wedding reception by 10am. Ya, awal okeh. By noon, the ballroom was relatively empty - except for a bunch of relatives having a go at singing.
We later headed home whilst the others went for their Terubuk masin and kek Sarawak hunt. I don't fancy the fish nor the cakes(as they reminded me of something poisonous due to their striking colors, no offense), so we stayed in and let Myra enjoy her afternoon nap. Right after Maghrib, a family friend came over and took us out for seafood dinner. Like yea, we had the usual fish, crab soup, buttered shrimp, sotong goreng tepung and all.

After the fattening dinner, went for a round of night sight seeing and we're back to our lodging before midnight.

The next day, which was our final day in Kuching, at 6.20am, we're already on an hour drive to Serikin for its famous side-road market. Personally, I'd say that it's not a place that I'll revisit. I mean, there are like tonnes of stuff being sold there but adelah kurang interesting (and it got so freaking hot by 8am!). So much so that C*** ended up with nothing and I only got myself two simple cotton dresses - since we're more occupied with the thought of finding a place to hide from the scorching hot sun instead of shopping.

Well, can't say the same bout the others tho. he he. The makciks surely loves their ikan kering, udang kering, kain batik, kain pasang, rolls of cinnamon sticks(kalau cinnamon rolls, I like!) and whatnot. So yea, it's probably not a place for us.

Our next stop was the waterfront. The others bought more cakes, colorful woven bags, etc whilst we on the other hand, settled for nothing but three pieces of fridge magnets. Like yea, how pathetic is that? I bought em for the sake of getting my hands on something. I just couldn't bear the thought of going home with nothing. Crazy, I know. T_T

After we're back at our lodging, C*** later went to the airport to check us in so that we don't have to face another episode of miserable seating arrangement. So yea, we managed to sit together during our flight back to KL, which was lovely - as we got to camwhore a little. Ya know, it's practically our 1st flight together as a family, so pictures are absolutely necessary. :)

Our plane took off at 8.30am approximately 20 minutes late from the scheduled time - yea, MAS pon pandai delay sekarang. Our flight back was great as Myra slept all the way through, leaving the parents to enjoy their dinner - I even got to finish mine this time as I got C*** to help me with the food. ha ha. I was tired from the lack of sleep, so food was rather necessary to keep me going and happy.

We reached KLIA sometime after 10pm, waited for our luggage, walked to our ride and headed straight to LCCT to pick up the in-laws. We got home sometime around midnite. Sungguh penat - hence the half day off that we took the next morning.

So yea, that's about it, our Kuching weekend getaway. I'm glad that Myra's easy to handle during the trip, regardless the hot weather. Yea, just when I thought Malacca is panas, Kuching is like super panas. If there's a next time, I'd make sure that we'll stay at a proper lodging - supaya there's no chance of waking up in the middle of the night all hot and sweaty. Urgh, that's probably the minus point of the trip, else everything about the trip was pretty dandy.

Our next quick getaway is coming within 2 weeks. I can't wait! :)
