of.the theater.&.me.

Loads of stuff happening lately, so I need to catch up with my writing for a bit since my OCD-self would like to have a written memory of it - hence the multiple updates in a week.

So yea, we went out for a theater-date last Friday night at the Istana Budaya - Chow Kit Road the musical, a tribute to Sudirman. A first night out with the other half in the past 2 years. Gosh. It was that long?

A first for us as man and wife - the theater bit I mean. Honestly I can't remember the last time we actually went out for a date - just the two of us. Must be lightyears ago as we hardly go out without the little one these days - except for a handful of times for some quick groceries shopping and the sort, but those don't count lah.

So yea, the show started at 8.30PM, it lasted for a good 2 hours and I hafta admit that it's pretty entertaining. What with the live singing (which was awesome), dancing and all - tho I think they should clearly note that the show is a wee bit on the 18SX side.

Sesungguhnya not suitable for the kids.

So C***, what's next?

P/S: Guess who hafta drive me to work for the midnite deployment tonight? :X

of.National Zoo.&.me.

Ever since the little one turned 2 and considered big enough (by yours truly obviously) to be further introduced to the animals (as the usual exposures are mainly thru books and flash card apps), we finally got to the zoo - 2 weeks ago (tho the National Zoo is like hmpp..less than 10 minutes away from our place).

For a start, my last visit to the Zoo was eons ago with a darling cousin of mine. I remembered that the visit was pretty brief because it was, well...ehem..boring.

On the sunny Saturday morning, armed with 2 tickets that I bought online on Groupon (which were RM9 cheaper compared to the normal price, what a cheapskate to do? Kids below 3 -  FOC) and a mountain of excitement (I'm excited about finally bringing my own kid to the zoo, like how old I am again?), we were already there by 10AM. Sungguh semangat.

When we got there, it was pretty packed with kindy kids on a school trip and we spent the 1st 15 minutes at the on going animal show and then it got pretty boring(I'm sorry, but the voice of the lady-presenter adelah annoying), so we decided to keep going as we still have the entire zoo to roam and it's getting hot.

All in all, we spent almost 3 hours there - mostly at the reptile place to watch the giant tortoise and the gang, the goat (hai la, nak tengok kambing pon kena pi zoo and how they smell), deer, cow of different kind, elephants and giraffe.

Couldn't really see the tigers as they were already hiding from the heat. Couldn't spot any big crocodile either. No bear. Bohooo.

Honestly, I'd say that the zoo is somewhat menyedihkan. Some of the animals are pretty sad looking, some of the cages were too hmpp..how should I put it, erm..poorly maintained kot? Like the hornbill cage, too many pokok/lalang and whanot in there - that we had trouble spotting the bird - but maybe the cages are being kept that way intentionally (berperasangka baik), untuk menambahkan the jungle feel to it, ya know, to mimic the natural habitat - bak kata C***.

There were a handful of empty cages too. Makes ya wonder, these animals dah takde sebab mati due to poor maintenance ke ape? That sorta thing.

For RM30/entrance, I really can't say that it's a worthy trip as I think that some smaller zoo offers a better display of their animals albeit its smaller size (and the animals seem to be healthier too). The car park rate is somewhat on the high side, I think we paid like RM6 for our 3 hours stay - no wonder some zoo-goers would prefer to park along the road side/outside the zoo entrance.

Tata. We won't come again (at least for the next few years that is)

So yea, the next Zoo Negara trip is probably in the next 5 years. Our next upcoming macik-dan-pacik-membawa-anak visit gonna be the Aquaria KLCC as our little one loves sea creatures. I already got the tickets (online), so let's!

of.botox gone bad.&.me.

I feel like rambling, so let's be random for a bit (here she goes again!).

I had an allergic reaction yesterday, owh wait, scratch that. I'm still having the allergic reaction to something right about now. My upper lip is still rather numb with a mild tingling feeling to it tho it was a whole lot worse last night and earlier this morning.

I looked like I had undergone a bad botox injection. My eyelid was a bit droopy. My lips were protruding as if someone just casted a permanent duck-face spell on me. C*** was like "You look different."  and I bet that it's not a compliment either. he he.

I'm not hormonal, so I'm rather fine with the tingling, numb, swollen lips, C***'s 'compliment' and all that.

So yea, before driving to the office this morning, had a quick pit-stop at the doctor's office as I need to have something to reduce the swelling. (I swear the nurses were secretly laughing behind my back T_T )  I just can't march around with a permanent duck-face, no?

Long story short, I was doped with 2 different medications. One to reduce the swelling and the other to fight the allergy.

Owh, the culprit to my allergic reaction is probably the a) Kerabu Sotong or b) Sambal Udang that I had during lunch at the kopitiam yesterday. I'm probably turning into my dad, as his eyelids gonna swell up whenever the seafood that he eats adelah tidak fresh.

I'm not a vain pot, it's not like I spend every breathing second checking on how I look but it would be great if I don't have to walk around with a botox-gone-bad lips ever again. Thankyouverymuch.

of.24 months.&.me.

Yea, I rarely rant these days, not like I don't but some are better left unsaid. Between ranting and being grateful for the stuff that I've been blessed with, I'll go for the latter. Hence the endless posts about the little precious.

So yea, how about another milestones post? Not like you have a choice anyway.

Well, the little one is currently on a full speed in learning to talk. Her vocabs are getting pretty awesome - for a 2 years old that is - but I'm probably bias. :P

She's our full-time parrot these days, cakap apa pon, semua dia ikot - much to our amusement, tho we often have to remind ourselves to watch our language.

She knows her basic colors - black, white, red, green, yellow and her utmost favourite, blue. She once ran toward me (at full speed) when I got back home, only to get close enough to point at the blue flowers on the shirt I was wearing and went "blueee". (whilst me on the other hand, was expecting for a hug or something). T_T

She's super dramatic nowadays, silap sikit je, she'll go to a corner and sulk(fake cries included)
 - tho her sulking usually won't last that long, one minute top - all I have to do is call for her in the most mendayu voice that I could muster. "Mai la sini anak mummmmmyyy"(repeats if required). :P

She once tricked me into bringing her into the bathroom so that she could play with water. Well, ever since she knows how to tell us that she made a poo poo months ago, she'll always come to us with her busuk-face, little-hand-fanning-the-nose and a repetitive of "busuk" - usually a nanosecond after she's done with the big business, all eager to drag us to the bathroom for a wash. Yea, this little one enjoys to have her little butt washed - but that one time she did the usual ritual, I found out that there's no poo poo but she insisted to get into the bathroom anyway, so yea, I let her had a bath terus. Owh, how I've been used.

She still have to be lulled (& hugged) to sleep on our bed first, then she'll be transferred to her crib by her daddy. She's yet to learn how to sleep without the aid of my bear-hug, pat on the butt and whatnot - which the obvious reason why I'd always fall asleep with her. Tidoq peluk-peluk whilst sniffing on her vanilla-scented soft curly hair adelah bliss. he he.

She loves me (there's no doubt bout that. I'm her mum, gimme some face lah.) but she adores her daddy. During the weekend(yer lah, weekdays, her daddy will be off to work way before she's awake), right after she wakes up, she'll smile at me and goes "Ni daddy"( in the comel-est tiniest voice possible) whilst pointing to her daddy. Macam la mak tak kenal daddy kau, nak.

She's pretty helpful around the house, air tumpah? You can count on her to wipe em clean and dry. She soiled her diaper? She's ever so willing to bring it to the kitchen and dump it in the bin (followed by the hand-washing and drying ritual).

She's so cheeky these days that I can't stop smiling to myself each time I'm reminded of her.

It's true that having a child will bring a lot of things in your life, give you strength you never know you have (and need, and trust me, you'll need a whole damn lot) and open doors to things you never know even existed. I'm humbled and grateful for the wonderful 2 years and looking forward for more years (and kids) to come.

Thank you Allah.
